ARPA Senior Grants

The Senior Serving Organizations grants will support nonprofit organizations that provide services to older adults. Older adults have been disproportionately impacted by the pandemic in access to support services.

To be eligible to apply organizations:

Priority will be given to organizations:

There will be $400,000 available in grants.  Grant amounts will be determined by an organization’s increased costs and/or decreased funding sources during the pandemic years (2020-2023) and will be calculated in partnership with CFSC staff.  Grants will average around $30,000 and are a one-time grant.  Grant funds can be used for expenses such as, but not limited to, payroll and benefits costs, mortgage, rent, utilities and other operating costs. We anticipate awarding between 10-15 grants.

The grant committee is comprised of seniors, community members with lived experiences and CFSC staff.

Grants open on July 15 and close on September 6.  Announcements will be made on October 11.

After the granting process, support to nonprofits will be provided through technical assistance and capacity building for a cohort that focuses on older adult well-being.

In order to lighten the burden of grant writing for nonprofits and because the process and criteria are valued aligned, we will be using these grants to create the docket for the Rick Steves Europe Grant later this year.

Frequently Asked Questions?

Q: I’m unsure if my application will be competitive. What can I do?

A: We offer technical workshops to go through the grant process. If you submit your application before August 23, it will be reviewed internally and a CFSC staff member will reach out with any concerns about your application.

Q: Help! There’s no text box for me to show how my organization was financially impacted by COVID-19.

A: This is a yes or no question. To make the grant application more accessible and equitable for organizations we are not asking for the data until after an organization is selected by the grant committee.

Q: My program changed since March 2020, do I qualify?

A: Yes, as long as your organization provided senior services since prior to March 2020. If your organization did not provide senior services prior to March 2020, and then changed to offer these services after March 2020, then your organization does not qualify.

Q: My organization has an annual budget over $2 million. Do I qualify?

A: Yes, you may still qualify for the grant depending on your answers to the other questions. However, organizations with less than a $2 million budget are prioritized.
