About

Designed
to educate pet owners of all ages, PAWS’ Pet
Safety Awareness Day
(May 17, 11-2pm) will be a fun and interactive event that
aims to give dog and cat owners across Snohomish and King Counties practical
advice and solutions for keeping their animals safe. The event is sponsored by
Northpointe Animal Hospital.

Alongside
demonstrations in cat leash training, and instructions on how to set up humane
traps to help reunite lost cats with their families, animal guardians will be
able to get their cats and dogs microchipped at a low cost, purchase an
identification tag to help get them reunited should they become lost, and buy a
city pet license.  There will be lots of
information to take away on themes of animal safety, as well as animal care
professionals on hand to answer questions.

Kay
Joubert, Director of Companion Animal Services at PAWS, said: We hope this free event will raise
awareness of a crucial aspect of responsible pet ownership, and contribute to a
reduction in the number of strays without licenses and identification. By
educating members of the public through such initiatives, we can get stray animals
reunited with their families before they ever cross a shelter’s threshold.”

The
PAWS Pet Safety Day is free and open to the public and will be held at PAWS’
main campus in Lynnwood. For more information, call 425-787-2500 ext. 801 or
visit the PAWS website at www.paws.org.
